Situated on the benches of Cottonwood Heights, Brighton High School is an on-site phased replacement that offers stunning views of the surrounding Wasatch mountains and valley. Designed for Canyons School District’s comprehensive curriculum, flexible and adaptable spaces provide opportunities for multidisciplinary student group collaboration key to enhancing critical thinking, creativity, and overall student experience.
MHTN knows We Speak Fluent Texture and came to us for a strategic use of 3D Wall Panels. Each floor has a unique texture used for wayfinding and to compliment the beauty of the surrounding landscape. With bright walls of glass, colored down lighting to enhance texture and bold colors, MHTN created a space for memorable learning.
“special attention to the mountain backdrop”

The new school is organized along a central corridor that connects learning communities with amenities across the campus, creating a comprehensive educational experience.
The use of color, natural light, and pattern inside the school strengthens wayfinding while creating comfortable and inviting spaces. Given the relationship to the adjacent canyons, each level is branded with ideas that reference nature: trails, peaks, and waterways. Innovative spaces include an enhanced social commons, CTE maker spaces, performing arts suite, and a media commons with multipurpose capacity. The athletic complex features include a new arena-style main gymnasium, indoor turf fieldhouse, and outdoor rally plaza.
With over 50 years of history, the school’s culture and tradition is embedded throughout the design. As a next generation learning facility, the new Brighton High School provides a new educational environment that honors the community’s legacy of excellence and academic success.
