Soelberg Industries had the great opportunity last week to welcome students from the Salt Lake Art Institute. This is the third time we have been able to provide a factory tour for the design students. We feel this is a great way to expose our up-and-coming designers to the latest trends and manufacturing processes utilized here at Soelberg Industries. It is also another great opportunity to show them the steps we take in order to eliminate and recycle waste in order to reduce the amount of impact we have on the environment. Thanks again to each or you from the Art Institute who participated, and we look forward to working together in the future.

Part boheme, part chic, part bold, part contemporary, all parts unique, this five-story London townhome was completely transformed into a far from ordinary space by designer Rebecca James of design firm Interior Desires. She brought the epitome of design to life by taking a family’s big personality and bringing it to life in their home. She captures the very essence of making one’s house a home.

What I love most about this home is the color craze. Each room takes on a theme by color that enriches and engraines some feeling into you by the precise placement of accessories, art, and of course, color. It’s all so inviting and alluring you can’t help but be intrigued and find want for the story behind the room – the people that become the catalyst for the design and layout of each space.

Ok, first things first: What in the world does it really mean when you say, “I’m floating on Cloud 9?” What is “Cloud 9?” Where is “Cloud 9?” Is it the highest cloud? Because really, doesn’t “I’m floating on Cloud 1 Billion” give more emphasis to this “cloud floating?” Well, that being said, I’ll say it: “I am floating on Cloud 9 or better, Cloud 1 Billion.” Now you really know how I am feeling.

I think in order to have “Cloud 9″ type of days or moments means that you have to understand “Below ground 9″ (I just assume this must be really deep if Cloud 9 is the best there is) in order to appreciate them. I think when you realize that the people around you inspire you to be more in a way that doesn’t condemn you for not being more, but rather in their company you feel a surging need to be more, you reach Cloud 9. Or when the things you’ve accomplished encourage you to dream bigger and reach higher not because your accomplishments are insignificant and must be more to compensate, but again rather, they provide the foundation of security that allows you to accomplish what you otherwise would consider impossible. I am grateful for the people that surround me and the ability to learn and grow from my experience……today, “I’m on Cloud 9.”

Now that you know my state of being, I want you to visualize how it really is. I am awed by the simple concept of faded legs to create this anti-gravity sitting experience. From the company Nendo based in Tokyo and Milan comes the Fade-Out Chair complete with seemingly weightless legs. I quote Nendo’s designers “Giving people a small (!) moment. There are so many small (!) moments hidden in our everyday.” The Fade-Out Chair does just that for me but ever more providing of those (!) moments are the people that surround me. Thank you to each of you.

To view more from Nendo, go to: http://www.nendo.jp/en/
